Daniel Mburu Muhuni aka Mbutch Mjingoma
I’m a Percussionist, Performer, Instructor, Instrument Maker and Breathwork Coach. I am also an autodidactic Ethnomusicologist. I am specialized in a range of Kenyan traditional music with extensive knowledge of coastal rhythms and instruments.
I am in training to be a fully certified as Transformational Breath® facilitator, which is trained in Kenya through Breathe Africa International. I have completed three levels of the Transformational Breath personal seminar and professional training programs with Level 4a. I am waiting to do 4b scheduled in November 2022 to be a fully certified facilitator of Transformation Breath®.
As a player of the Bung’o, a unique instrument from the Mijikenda culture, I felt that the techniques of mediation and breathwork were merging into my playing. I started to experiment by consciously joining different breathing techniques with playing the Bung’o, essentially ‘transposing’ conscious breathing onto the instrument itself. The feedback of the sounds from the instrument created a circular energy filled with conscious, healing energy.
I have since developed The Bung’o Vibrational Breathwork Toolkit, which is a new transformational practice that combines the insights of breathwork with the strength of sound and vibrational healing. To date, no one has ever re-purposed the Bung’o in this way. I am just as proud to have discovered this possibility through my personal journey as I am excited to share it with the rest of the world! I will be giving workshops during the GIC 2023 here in Kenya, and I welcome you to come and experience the power of these natural tools.
