I am a Breathwork Master, a Life Adventurer, a Pilgrim and an Artist.
Originally trained as an Economist I worked for more than 10 years for various governmental institutions in Switzerland as a statistician, followed by 2 years in Africa as a Development worker for a big Swiss NGO.
I discovered the power of the Breath in 1990 and trained as a Breathworker in Venezuela with Viola Edward in 1995. I have been working with the Breath ever since, facilitating individual sessions, and workshops in various countries. In 2028 I co-created the AIR School of Breathwork (airschoolofbreathwork.com), a successful breathworker programme both in the UK and overseas. After running it for 15 years, I have handed it over to two of my excellent graduates, Jacqui Storm and Kerry Veitch.
I have been involved with the IBF since the year 2000, being successively its National Coordinator for the UK, its Treasurer and then its President from 2008 to 2012. I also led the IBF-UN Project Group aiming at developing concrete Conscious Breathing projects all around the world to contribute to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and co-created with Judee Gee the IBF Conscious Breathing Trauma Recovery programme (CBTR) to bring relief to people suffering from PTSD, burnout and depression. This programme is available for free here.
I was born and grew up in the French speaking part of Switzerland but am passionate about the world and its communities. I now live in the UK with my husband and our daughter. Over the last years I have become a pilgrim, walking along the Via Francigena (see my blog on brigittemartinpowell.com . I have also started painting and recently used my painting skills to support me through another deep journey of personal growth.
