Ayo Handy-Kendi, renown as ”The Breath Sekou” is a master teacher of “the breath” since 1970 and offers breath training as the founder/CEO, PositivEnergyWorks. She has “breathed” with millions on radio, t.v, in print, on stage, over the Internet and in private practice.with approximately 500+ clients and presentations.
She is the Founder of Optimum Life Breathology™, a system of breath training which includes her signature training modalities, Transcendence Breathwork™ and Relearn How to Breathe ™, along with theory, breathing mechanics and 12 breath applications oriented towards POC's (people of color). She has certified over 250 Breathologist in 7 U.S.A. States and exposed in 9 countries. She has also developed several requested breath presentations, such as "Power of the Breath"; “Breath Circles to Heal the Divides™”, “It’s a PlayShop - Reconnect, Play, Laugh, Breathe”™, and “Birthing Breath”™.
She is a Certified Breathologist, Laughter Yoga Teacher/Leader, Transformational Breath Facilitator, Reiki Master 3, QiCong 2, Sound Healer/Composer, Speaker/Storyteller, Cultural/Spiritual Rituals Facilitator, Diversity Trainer, Organizer/Life Coach.. She is an Author, Speaker, Storyteller whose focus on culture and wholistic health is embodied in her, “Power of the Breath” and “Keepers of the Culture” series of books, plays, dvd's and cd's .Her "Applied Breathology" Book, and DVD, are the required reading for her O.L.B training. She is also author of a children's book, "Why the Breath Has So Much Power".
She performed “tune-up” relaxation music with her late husband, John Davies 3, drummer/Composer featured as “Earth Love Tune Up Crew “ (ELTUC) and they created 5 Relaxation CD's heard now on ITunes, Spotify and Amazon..
She is a member of The International Breathwork Foundation (IBF) , has served on the World Breathing Day Committee (Apr 11) and co-stewards, International Breath Day (Nov. 22).
She has used breath techniques to personally overcome many adversities such as homelessness, domestic violence, the death of her son, addictions, childhood emotional and sexual abuse and lots of stress,.
She is also the founder/CEO of African American Holiday Association (AAHA) which stewards the commemorative holiday, Black Love Day- Feb. 13, since 1993. She further developed a "Ritual of Reconciliation" which offers a restorative justice practice, that includes ritual, breathing, apology and atonement to increase peace and stop violence thru reconciliation..
Using her broad experiences, as a degreed Counselor, Community Organizer, Producer and a Healer, she empowers others with her charged up attitude of “PositivEnergy” and her 5 tenets of “Black Love” to encourage self-care, stress/trauma management and healing racism. Since 1996, she has been spear-heading, a “Breath Movement”, which has been expanding yearly, as she affirms,“PositivEnergyWorks when you Breathe Better, Live Better”.
