I found Breathwork and Body based counselling after trying many therapy styles during my 20s, and I practice it because it actually works. I support people through all the possible ‘side effects’ of being human, but my own lived experiences include; separation in families, dysregulated attachment styles, experiences unique to women, substance use, depression, parenting, relationships and complex chronic health issues including migraine and cancer.

I have travelled throughout Australia, Asia, Latin America and Europe and studied Humanities, (Literature, History, Politics and Spanish) and later Postgraduate Journalism, and have enjoyed a diverse career. My career has centred on helping, communicating and raising awareness, with a bit of fun and creativity alongside. From caring for people who live with disability and English language teaching, to childrens facepainting and selling hand made kites on the streets of Barcelona, Radio producing and 14 years as an independent documentary film maker. I made films about marine plastic clean-up volunteers in Tasmania, women's unspoken experiences of abortion, domestic violence, refugee experiences, first nations culture, and promoting the work of change makers in my community.

I have benefited myself from Breathwork since 2009. Finding it profoundly transformative, I did an immersive experiential training over 2 years and 250 hours with Australia's senior Breathwork practitioner Cindy Aulby. I have been a practitioner since 2020 and continue to learn through my clients, my own Breathwork sessions, reading widely in the field of Psychotherapy, and have the huge satisfaction of being able to use my journey for the benefit of the nipaluna/Hobart community and the planet.

I am well-supported by my loved ones, lifelong journalling, a love of dance, music and literature and deep connection with the natural world.

HOW I WORK:

It's my honour to offer Breathwork with Body-Centred Counselling, together forming a powerful way to access your inner resources and wisdom. People come to me describing frustration and disappointment with traditional talk therapy and want to involve the knowing of their body, emotions, spirit, energetic system and psyche in the process. Using Conscious Connected Breathing with body awareness, curated music and my attuned guidance, sessions support you to bring presence and self compassion to whatever arises and my clients experience the release, insight, growth and integration they have longed for.

I have been seeing clients in my own private practice since 2020, and have helped hundreds of people since. I draw on the latest techniques and understandings in psychotherapy, including Polyvagal theory, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing and the perspectives of Jeff Foster, Tara Brach and Gabor Maté.

A session begins with a verbal check-in about what's going on for you presently, and when we have a ‘map’ you will lie down on a mattress, get comfy and be guided to be fully present in your body. I’ll support you with the technique of Conscious Connected Breathing - a full open-mouth inhale and exhale of equal length, with little or no pause at either end of the breath. It will initiate a process and potentially a non-ordinary state of consciousness that will give access to information, feelings and insights. I will keep guiding you to trust your body and ‘lean in’ to what it communicates with you. Please feel free to move and make sound if you feel like it. This part lasts between 40 -60min. You’ll be given plenty of time to conclude the process and gently guided to return to everyday consciousness. Finally, there will be time to debrief on what you experienced, and integrate the new information.
