Riomattá was born from two best friends who met on a Greek island both who share the love of breathwork, which brings two lineages, and two essential forces: flow and form.
“Río” (Rio) means river, symbolising flow, breath, rhythm, emotion, and life force. It represents the current that moves through all practices: breath, sound, and energy in motion, and the feminine.
“Mattá” (Matt) comes from matter; the body, the earth, form, and physical presence. It represents embodiment, grounding, and the container through which healing becomes real and lived.
Together, Riomattá means the river moving through matter consciousness, breath and vibration embodied in the human body.
Riomattá is a school of holistic practices devoted to embodied healing where breath, sound, yoga, movement, and ancient wisdom meet the modern nervous system.
We are a trauma-aware school of Holistic Practices offering science-led, embodied training for students & facilitators who want to hold this work ethically and sustainably. Our flexible, experiential approach ensures students don’t just graduate qualified, they graduate grounded.
300-Hour Trauma-Informed Breathwork Teacher Training (TTC) Our 300-hour Trauma-Informed Breathwork Teacher Training is a comprehensive and integrative programme designed to train skilled, ethical, and embodied breathwork facilitators. The training consists of 200 hours of online learning and 100 hours of in-person immersion, combining flexible study with deep experiential practice. Rooted in trauma-informed principles, the course emphasises nervous system awareness, safety, consent, and inclusive facilitation. Students are trained to recognise and respond to trauma, support emotional regulation, and create grounded, supportive spaces for individuals and groups. The curriculum integrates breathwork techniques, somatic practices, and facilitation skills, including session design, music integration, and group leadership. A strong emphasis is placed on personal embodiment, self-inquiry, and experiential learning throughout the training. Participants are assessed through a combination of practical facilitation, case studies, and supervised practice. Ongoing mentorship and feedback are provided to support integration, skill development, and professional readiness. Graduates leave equipped to deliver 1:1 and group breathwork sessions with confidence, professionalism, and trauma-informed integrity.
