Hi, I'm Bénédicte Lauzière, a Juilliard-trained violinist, Concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, and a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator certified through Pause Breathwork. I founded Attuned by Bénédicte Lauzière, my breathwork practice based in Waterloo, Ontario.
I spent years handling the demands of elite performance while carrying chronic stress that affected my health, my creativity and my relationships. After my daughters were born, I went through six years of feeling disconnected from myself, even while I kept showing up for my family and my career. In May 2025, my first breathwork session changed that. For the first time in a long while I felt back in my body and present in my own life. That experience led me to train as a facilitator so I could offer this work to others.
Today I guide 1:1 sessions and a weekly group practice online, lead programs for musicians and for mothers, and facilitate in-person workshops in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. I've also recorded my own violin to accompany some of my guided practices, bringing both parts of my life into the same space.
I use breath to help people stop pushing past what they feel and start noticing it. I don't teach relaxation techniques. I guide people through breathing patterns that help the body release the tension and emotion it has been holding, so they can come back to presence. Sometimes what's there is calm, and sometimes it's grief, anger, joy or something without a name yet.
Every session is trauma-informed and paced by the person breathing. I adjust intensity as we go and keep choice in their hands (and breath!) at every step. My journeys often move through an activating phase, breath holds and a return to slow, full breathing. I've found that feeling activated and then finding your way back to balance teaches the nervous system that it's safe to feel intensity, and that carries well beyond the session. My intention is to offer a space that feels safe, supported and deeply attuned, where breath becomes a pathway back home.
I explain in plain language what breath is doing to the body, so people can trust the experience rather than take it on faith. Clients tell me they feel more aware of their bodies, less tight in the chest, clearer in their thinking, and many go on to keep a daily breath practice of their own.
What sets me apart is that I know the two worlds I serve from the inside, as a concertmaster and as a mother.
For musicians, I'm a working orchestral player at the top of my profession who also facilitates. I know the shaky bow, the passage you dread three pages early, the audition where you can't seem to access your best playing. I help performers use their breath to prepare for the stage and to find flow once they're on it.
For mothers, I know what it is to keep showing up for everyone while quietly losing touch with yourself. I lived that for six years after my daughters were born. I help mothers at any stage, whether pregnant, newly postpartum or years into parenting, come back to themselves and be fully present with the people they love.
Whether someone comes to me before an audition or in the middle of a full family life, the work is the same at its core: less bracing, more presence, and room to show up fully in whatever role they're living.
