Ayo Handy-Kendi, renown as “The Breath Sekou” and  “Mama Ayo –the Storyteller”,  has studied the breath since 1970.  She  is the founder of Optimum Life Breathology™ a training system,  which has certified over100 Breathologists in over 7 states and Transcendence Breathwork™, a profound, self-help, healing modality.  She has "breathed" with millions, supporting their growth and development via the internet, phone, Skype, on stage, over radio, t.v. and in print.

She is the author of “The Power of the Breath Book”, “Why the Breath Has So Much Power”, a children’s book; “The Black Love Book”, and “Applied Breathology”,  She is the Producer of DVD’s, “Applied Breathology" and “Relaxation Moments” and Co-producer of 5 CD’s of relaxation tune-up music to breathe by. 

She serves as the Founder/CEO of  PositivEnergyWorks, LLC, a wellness service where she facilitates Breathology practices; Laughter Yoga, Stress Management, Reiki, Sound Healing , Aroma-Therapy and Life Coaching .
She is also the Founder of Black Love Day-Feb 13; Director of The African American Holiday Association (AAHA) , a non-profit and Host/Producer of “The Sage-ing Baby Boomers Show”. 

She demonstrates over 40+ years of experience as a Counselor, Wholistic Practitioner, Sound Healer, Composer, Speaker/Storyteller, Author/Playwright, Organizer, Entrepreneur, and Diversity Trainer.  

She holds a BA in Community Organizing and AA in Human Services and is also spiritually degreed in using breath techniques to overcome the stress of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, addiction, homelessness and the violent deaths of her teenage son and oldest brother
